Anxiety is one of the most frequent complaints of clients. In this introductory workshop hosted by Angela Cathey will allow you to gain the knowledge and practice to feel comfortable utilizing exposure-based methods in your treatment of anxiety (e.g., social anxiety, panic disorder) and anxiety-related disorders (obsessive-compulsive disorder). We will walk you through theory, application, and practice of creating exposure hierarchies for your clients and assisting them in improving their response flexibility in the presence of fear and anxiety. This workshop is taught by an experienced anxiety therapist, Angela Cathey. Angela has several years of experience leading anxiety treatment units at the Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) levels. Angela founded the International OCD Foundation's Kansas branch, OCD Kansas and later moved to a board position. In this workshop, you will learn from her experiences with a wide array of clinical applications of Exposure and Response Prevention.  You will discover how the ACT model allows an efficient care, no matter the disorder and its level of intensity.

1. Set up a basic hierarchy for a variety of common anxiety presentations.
2. Identify different clinical presentations and their treatment implications.
3. Describe the treatment rationale for exposure and response prevention.
4. Describe common issues that come up in the practice of exposure-based treatments and best practices to address them.
