This program is a one-day immersive workshop that can help professionals navigate those highly charged interpersonal situations: negotiations, sales, difficult feedback sessions. Beyond specialized skills, research shows that there is an overarching skill known variously as emotional agility or psychological flexibility that facilitates making the best of our skill sets in tight situations while moving firmly in the direction of what matters. The present program is based on a novel way of delivering Acceptance and Commitment Training, (ACT pronounced as the word “act”), a science-based approach with a proven track-record in training psychological flexibility to improve performance, reduce stress and increase resilience in the face of a whole range of psychological barriers.
The program allows participant to explore and practice a concrete exercise that will increase their psychological flexibility when they most need it. The program comes with an 8-weeks course of easy-to-digest support materials to reinforce its main learning point.
1. Programming your Sat-Nat. In phase one, participants will program their own GPS Sat-Nav system, which will serve as anchor and compass for the rest of the program and allow them to keep in view at all times what truly matters to them in life and in any tricky situation.
2. Debugging your Sat-Nav. In phase two, participants will discover common mistakes in using the Sat-Nav and particular quirks of humans that can make us get hooked and get trapped in unhelpful loops both at work and in life more generally
3. Taking your Sat-Nav on the road. In this participants will learn how to best use their Sat-Nav in everyday situations and start using it to navigate interpersonal exchanges.
4. All-terrain driving: taking your Sat-Nav off-road. In this phase, participants will practice using their newly acquired Sat-Nav skills to negotiate tricky conversations by practicing gradual exercises that will train them to keep moving in their chosen direction in the presence of increasingly difficult exchanges.
After having completed the workshop, participants will be given access to a novel tool that can be accessed by a smartphone app and which has been proven to increase the probability of moving toward one’s most deeply held values.
This workshop can be tailored to meet the needs of a range of professionals: executives, human resources teams, sales professionals, managers, and any person or team interested in increasing their psychological flexibility in difficult interpersonal exchanges.
